Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works with NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. She joined the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Then, in 1992 she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994, she was named chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Her coverage included a variety of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra affair, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with the president Reagan to meet along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
